Community Engagement

A most satisfying and productive way to unite in bringing about common welfare is by volunteering for community service projects. SOMAARTH recognizes and acts upon the fact that engaging in community services carries rewards beyond the obvious and tangible. It recognizes that community service is about building a stronger and healthier community.


Community Awareness:

In an effort to mobilize and empower individuals, families and communities to join the movement towards improving overall health and healthcare conditions prevailing among populations in developing countries, the Trust endeavors to spread awareness on high-priority health issues. Some of the community awareness activities actioned by the Trust in this direction are :

  • Community awareness on maternal and child health
  • Community awareness on non-communicable diseases.
  • Community awareness on adverse effects of indoor air pollution.

 

 

Community-Based Activities:

There is ever-increasing importance of community-based activities to complement research and training efforts undertaken by the Trust in furthering its mission and vision towards providing quality healthcare in developing country populations. It is towards this effort that The INCLEN Trust International undertakes to organize various community-based activities. Some of the community-based activities undertaken by the Trust in this direction are :

  • Community health camp in Palwal district of Haryana – 4th March, 2010

Community training: It was decided to capacitate the communities as an inspector for their own injection practices. BCC campaign developed by Indian Institute of mass communication was used as a basis for this community awareness program. In addition to power point slides; mnemonics, radio advertisement and various injection related videos would be used.Materials for community awareness are prepared (Attachment 2) and a pilot workshop is planned. It was decided to invite 15 to 20 influential persons in each community, like Panchayat head, members etc., for initial round of sensitization followed by mass campaigning.
